FLEA FREE

There's an amazing product called Diatomaceous Earth, also known and DE. is a naturally occurring, soft, siliceous sedimentary rock that is easily crumbled into a fine white to off-white powder. This powder has an abrasive feel, similar to pumice powder, and is very light, due to its high porosity. There are different grades and I'm talking about the "food grade". Food grade diatomaceous earth is a natural powder that works in a simple physical/mechanical manner, not chemical and because of this, it has no chemical toxicity. Parasites don't build up a tolerance or immunity to its chemical reaction, so rotation of wormers or chemical insecticides isn’t necessary. Food grade DE has no odor.

It can be used for a variety of purposes. I use if for many things but mainly for fleas. I've been giving it to my dog for months now and he is COMPLETELY Flea-Free. And when I say completely, that's what I mean. I have not seen a flea on him in months. It goes into his food everyday at the same meal (you don't split the dosage). You have to be a bit resourceful with finicky eaters. Cooper is NOT finicky. He’d eat dry wall dust if I let him, but I did have to figure out a way to get it into him without losing any of the dosage because he eats "dry" food. I dissolve the dosage in a little bit of water and add his food. He loves it. It's not that unpleasant. Kind of tastes like mud a bit, but it's not that hard to swallow. Chemicals are a quick fix, but Food Grade DE has cleaned out Cooper’s system and along with an extremely healthy diet and exercise, he’s so healthy that the pests just don’t want much to do with him. The goal shouldn’t be just to “treat” fleas & ticks or disease, but instead a permanent cure.

DE has a huge amount of tremendous benefits besides controlling fleas, including worming, fly control elimination of mites and all sorts of bugs, both indoor and out. It's amazingly beneficial for humans as well. It helps eliminate all intestinal worms and parasites from the body and keeps the bowels clean. I myself use it every day. Food grade DE is also known to sweep some bacteria out of the system, but it doesn't kill the beneficial bacteria in the stomach. It contains 15 naturally occurring minerals that are excellent for the body and promote healthier, shinier hair, skin and nails.

LAVENDER Essential Oil

Lavender essential oil is just about the most versatile and useful essential oil there is. It is readily available, plentiful and inexpensive, and it is simple and safe to use.

There are many varieties. Among the most common are Bulgarian and French.

Lavender oil has extreme calming qualities. It's especially good for headaches and migraines. It is soothing to both the digestive and the nervous systems. Lavender can also help with insomnia, stress, burns, acne, sore muscles, sprains, stiff joints, and hair loss.

I have used lavender oil for years. I use it for just about everything. bug bites, sores, scrapes, burns, splinters, abrasions, minor itching; the list is endless. I make shampoos and conditioners with it. I’ve used it for relaxing in a diffuser. Honestly, I could go on for days about all of its uses.

I had a Golden Retriever that used to get “hot spots”*. Before I knew about lavender essential oil, I tried everything to relieve him of his discomfort. I even took him to the vet for cortisone shots. Nothing worked. When I learned about lavender, I used it diluted in water to cleanse the hot spot. Than I used a carrier oil with several drops of lavender on the spot. Within three days the hot spot had healed. He never had a problem again. When one would begin, I would immediately use lavender oil and it would stop the spread before it had a chance. Lavender is amazing. I never leave home without it.

*A Hot Spot, or acute moist dermatitis, is an acutely inflamed and infected area of skin irritation created and made worse by a dog licking and biting at itself. A hot spot can manifest and spread rapidly in a matter of hours as secondary Staphylococcus infection causes the top layers of the skin to break down and as pus becomes trapped in the hair.
